Painting what you feel, and what you see
A painting no longer takes time. A machine now reaches toward a level once won over a lifetime, and it gets there faster than you can finish reading. So where does value move to? This screen is here for that question.
Not one brushstroke here belongs to the author. Everything that happens is settled by the probabilities and scores Jev returns after reading your sentence. Jev is a decision model from TypeSafe. It writes no prose; it answers questions with numbers, and a single painting is made of thirty-two of them.
Colour comes from asking, separately for each of fifteen colours, whether that colour is visible in the scene your words raise. How certain the model is becomes how much of the surface that colour takes. Composition is one of four kinds, and the light comes from one of four directions. Brightness, chroma, grain, energy, sharpness, scale, contrast, depth, tilt, count, the wave and weight of the layers, the twist and eye of the vortex — fourteen measures, each read across five levels. One last question asks whether the scene is organic or geometric. The model decides what is mixed; the code decides how.
When the model hesitates, the painting hazes. The less certain the words, the more the edges give way and the colours dissolve into one another. What stands here is not a scene but the wavering of a judgement made in front of language.
When speed becomes absolute, it is the image that stops being scarce. What remains is the hand that decided what to ask, and the choice of where the returned numbers were laid on the surface — the work is not the picture in front of you but this relation, strung between a question, a number and a plane. Each time you type a sentence, it runs once.
Whatever you make here is yours to use freely for personal purposes: as a wallpaper, in print, or posted as it is. Commercial use needs no permission either, as long as you credit kota-hisafuru.com as the source.
